AMITYVILLE HORROR HOUSE

The Amityville Horror still sends chills up people’s spines.

The Amityville Horror House at 112 Ocean Avenue was thesite of the famous 1975 haunting that led to a best-sellingbook (1977) and movie franchise, the real horror of whichbegan with the DeFeo family murders in 1974.

In 1975, a family of 5 purchased and moved into their “dream home” well aware of the grisly massmurder the year before and was immediately besieged by dreadful apparitions, bubbling green slime,red-eyed pig heads, levitating beds and sinister cries to "Get out!" Twenty-eight days later, that'sexactly what they did, abandoning all their possessions and telling their terrifying story to anyone whowould listen.

History Salvaged acquired Witness Wood® from the owners of the Toms River, NJ home that “stood in” for the Amityville Horror House for the 1979 film starring James Brolin and Margot Kidder and two sequels. The filming led to so much turmoil in the New Jersey seaside town that it led to the

Township Committee adopting a blanket prohibition on commercial filmmaking in all residential zone.
